FIFA LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION INTO BEHAVIOR OF ARGENTINA PLAYERS

ZURICH, JULY 21 /SRNA/ - The International Association Football Federation /FIFA/ launched an investigation today into the behavior of Argentina's players following the conclusion of the World Cup final.

Any player or coach involved in the brawl could face a suspension, while the Argentine Football Association /AFA/ could also be fined.

In a press release, FIFA stated that its Disciplinary Committee has appointed a disciplinary and ethics prosecutor to investigate possible breaches of the Disciplinary Code in relation to the post-match incidents.

Video footage shows that several players were involved, including Leandro Paredes, who shoved multiple Spain players after the match ended.

He grabbed Eric Garcia by the neck, and when Gavi intervened to separate them, Paredes pushed him onto the grass as well.

His teammate Nahuel Molina struck Rodri while the Manchester City midfielder was celebrating winning the world championship title.

Argentina's assistant coach, Roberto Ayala, also attempted to punch Dani Olmo in the face.

Argentina's head coach Lionel Scaloni and other players tried to intervene to prevent larger incidents from occurring.

The majority of the Argentina squad stood with their backs turned during the trophy presentation ceremony while Spain lifted the cup, as the players were busy greeting their fans at the time.

Prior to that, the Spanish players had formed a guard of honor and applauded the Argentines as they received their silver medals.
