BANJA LUKA, JULY 9 /SRNA/ - The president of the Republika Srpska Association of Women Victims of War Božica Živković-Rajilić stated that the number of Bosniaks who died in Srebrenica in July 1995 has been grossly exaggerated under the influence of political agendas, which is not good for anyone.
Živković-Rajilić told SRNA that exaggerating the number of Bosniak victims in Srebrenica is not good even for the Bosniaks, let alone for the other peoples in BiH, because it is not the truth, and that without truth, there can be no forgiveness, reconciliation, or coexistence.
"Among them are also those who died elsewhere, those who fled and are still alive today, yet they have a memorial in Potočari," said Živković-Rajilić.
She pointed out that Bosniaks never mention the Serb victims from that area, from the "Pilećarnik" prison and other locations in and around Srebrenica.
"A memorial service for over 3,200 Serb victims was held a few days ago, and no Bosniak acknowledges that those victims even exist. Western diplomats act as if our victims don't exist. That is not good and only undermines every attempt at coexistence," Živković-Rajilić emphasized.
She said that no Bosniak women or children were killed in Srebrenica, whereas Serb women, children, the elderly, and the infirm were, adding that she respects all victims, but also demands that others respect Serb victims as well.
The 30th anniversary of the suffering of Bosniaks in Srebrenica in July 1995 will be commemorated at the Memorial Center in Potočari on July 11.
