SRBAC, MARCH 31 /SRNA/ - The situation in the flooded areas in the municipality of Srbac is gradually normalizing, the Vrbas has mostly returned to its riverbed, and the level of the Sava river is also slightly decreasing, the head of Srbac municipality, Mlađan Dragosavljević, told SRNA.
Dragosavljević stated that the only problem was the underground water that had remained in certain locations, but it was important to move towards the normalization of life in the threatened areas.
He said that, after the Vrbas receding, the Sava River rose over the weekend and flooded two households in Kobaš, as well as part of agricultural buildings, however, the situation there is better today.
"In relation to the situation that could have befallen us, we can be satisfied. There were landslides in some places, but there weren't any serious problems and we hope there won't be any," Dragosavljević emphasized.
He pointed out that three municipal commissions have been formed to assess damage to family homes, agriculture and public facilities and infrastructure, which will soon begin work based on applications that citizens can submit at the counter hall of the Municipal Administration.
"For our circumstances, the damage is great, especially that caused by torrential waters, and it is difficult to talk about their extent at this moment," Dragosavljević stated.
He thanked everyone who was involved in the fight against the water element and providing assistance to vulnerable citizens, and added that the flood defense emergency will continue to be in effect until the situation on the ground is completely calmed down.
