VUČIĆ’S PROMISE FULFILLED - ROAD TO MULTY-MEMBER FAMILY’S HOUSE PAVED

ŠIPOVO, SEPTEMBER 3 /SRNA/ – The road towards the house of Darko Ilić in the village of Vodice, Šipovo Municipality, has been paved, fulfilling a promise made by Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić to this multy-member family during his recent visit.

Ilić told SRNA that the road was completed even ahead of the scheduled deadline, saying he was overjoyed and grateful to President Vučić, who made the promise during his visit to the family’s household in early August.

"This means a great deal to me now, as well as to my family, our guests, and a baby we used to carry in our arms to get vaccinatedc, whereas now we can drive along the road by car and take the baby in a stroller. I neither expected nor believed it would be done so quickly, but everything has been completed as promised. I will be grateful to President Vučić for as long as I live, as will my family," Ilić said.

He said he was extremely happy and emphasized that there was nothing like this anywhere in the surrounding area in terms of what had been done for him.

Ilić noted that the road had been built specifically for his family and one household, stretching approximately 650 meters, which was neither a short distance nor a small investment, but rather a project far too large for one family, something he could only dream of because he could never have afforded to build it himself.

"This is a dream come true. Everything else will be easier now, because nothing can be done without a road, and the lack of one was holding me back in everything I tried to do, including livestock farming, agriculture and other activities," Ilić said.

According to him, the neighbours now have the opportunity to extend the road toward their own homes, meaning that what has been done will benefit the entire village.

Ilić said that his household consists of himself and his wife, their son, daughter-in-law and their baby, as well as two daughters, while two other daughters are married.

"Yesterday I had guests from Mount Ozren who traveled 300 kilometers just to have their picture taken at the place where President Vučić had been," Ilić said.

The road-paving works began about two weeks ago, and the contractor was the Mrkonjić Roads Company from Mrkonjić Grad.

Vučić promised on August 3 that the road would be built when he visited the Ilić family together with President Milorad Dodik.
