SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 24 /SRNA/ - Police found and placed under supervision 65 foreign nationals who did not have identification documents in their possession in the municipality of Hadžići last night, the Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry’s Police Administration said.
The duty prosecutor at the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH was notified of the case and classified it as a human trafficking offense, linked to suspicions of organizing a group or association for migrant smuggling.
Jelena Miovčić, Spokeswoman for the State Investigation and Protection Agency /SIPA/, told SRNA that agency officers were on the ground and that activities were underway in cooperation with the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs and the Migration Center in Blažuj.
"We are acting on the orders of the Prosecutor’s Office. We are carrying out activities within our jurisdiction in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office," Miovčić added.
The area near the railway station in Hadžići was cordoned off last night due to the police operation.
