PALE, NOVEMBER 30 /SRNA/ – The unity of Serbs is now the most important thing in the BiH Parliamentary Assembly because the law on state property must be rejected; otherwise, it would mean the collapse of the Dayton Peace Agreement and a final blow to Republika Srpska, the Chair of the Assembly of the Republika Srpska Creators Association, Momir Tošić, said in her SRNA statement.
“What matters most now is that we have unity in the BiH Parliament when these crucial issues are on the agenda. I believe that under no circumstances can we afford to be divided, especially when it comes to the property law,” Tošić said.
He reminded that he was one of the first chairmen of the House of Peoples, participating in the implementation process in 1997 and 1998, emphasizing that back then, the idea was never even mentioned because under the Dayton Peace Agreement, the 49 percent of territory assigned to Republika Srpska clearly implied that it was its property.
After 30 years and many imposed amendments to the Dayton, during which Republika Srpska was unjustly accused of obstructing BiH’s progress toward European integration, Tošić stressed that it has become clear that the goal was constant pressure on Srpska, its officials, and its representatives.
He noted that there were blackmails, especially in the first two years, and highlighted the difference in economic support that the Federation of BiH received compared to Republika Srpska. Yet no one ever mentioned, nor could they have mentioned, the issue of property, adding that perhaps the law should have been rejected from the start, at any cost.
“I believe that under the Dayton, when it comes to property issues, such a law is absolutely out of the question. I believe it would be the collapse of the Dayton and, as far as Republika Srpska is concerned, a final blow to it,” Tošić concluded.
The House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly will review the Bill on State Property in regular procedure, since at the session held on Thursday, November 27, there was no entity majority to discuss it under urgent or shortened procedure.
The proposers are representatives Jasmin Emrić, Šemsudin Mehmedović, Aida Baručija, and Elvis Hodžić.
