BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 28 /SRNA/ - Following the terrorist attack in Belgrade, the Republika Srpska Interior Ministry /MoI/ is taking enhanced security measures to maintain public order, protect citizens and prevent possible security threats across Srpska.

The enhanced measures cover areas near facilities under special protection, as well as facilities linked to Israel in Republika Srpska.

The Srpska Interior Ministry said the security situation in Republika Srpska is stable, but police officers will take further measures and actions in line with security assessments, with stepped-up cooperation with other relevant security agencies.

"The Republika Srpska Interior Ministry will continue to monitor the security situation and take measures within its remit to protect citizens' lives and property," the ministry said in a statement.

A minor, believed to be from Šabac, attacked a Gendarmerie officer guarding the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade with two knives, shouting "Allahu Akbar".

The officer killed the attacker in self-defense and sustained minor injuries. A red level terrorism threat alert has been declared.
