BANJA LUKA, APRIL 22 /SRNA/ – The Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Nenad Stevandić has stated today in Banja Luka that General Ratko Mladić is being mistreated in the detention hospital, alleging that the intention is to prevent him from dying in his own country.

"This is a disgrace and rules of war cannot be applied to a sick man. I am a friend of Darko Mladić and we have been in contact for years", Stevandić told reporters.

He added that it is most troubling that institutions established to promote justice are showing injustice and inhumanity.

General's son Darko Mladić earlier told SRNA that General Ratko Mladić is in critical condition in the detention hospital following his latest stroke on April 10.

General Mladić has been in the detention hospital in The Hague for two years, bedridden due to a series of health issues, including strokes, heart surgery, kidney failure, high blood pressure and diabetes.
