STEVANDIĆ: PARLIAMENT TO ELECT NEW GOVERNMENT UPON FORMAL REQUEST

BANJA LUKA, JANUARY 15 /SRNA/ – The Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Nenad Stevandić told SRNA that the Republika Srpska parliament will elect a new government as soon as it receives the appropriate request, adding that there will be no problems when it comes to functioning of Republika Srpska, following the resignation of Prime Minister Savo Minić.

Stevandić specified that the Assembly operates in accordance with its Rules of Procedure and that, once it receives the necessary documentation, it will convene the Collegium to schedule a session on the appointment of the new Government.

"In that regard, there will be no problems whatsoever when it comes to the functioning of Republika Srpska," Stevandić said.

He added that, in this process, since its establishment, the Assembly has cooperated with other Srpska institutions, within the framework of the Constitution, laws, and its Rules of Procedure.

"The Assembly is working at full capacity and with full legitimacy," Stevandić said.

The Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić confirmed that he returned his mandate today and that he has already been informed that he will again be proposed as the prime minister-designate.

Minić stated that he was notified of this by the Acting President of Republika Srpska Ana Trišić Babić.

He emphasized that the reasons for returning the mandate are multiple, noting that he wants a reconstruction of the Government in order to ensure pace and adequate responses to all citizens’ demands and to the current situation, particularly pressures on Srpska.

“Anyone who is not ready to provide an institutional response to what is happening will not fare well politically,” Minić said at a press conference in Banja Luka.
