BANJA LUKA, APRIL 2 /SRNA/ - The sovereignty of Republika Srpska is best protected by the Constitution, with the support of the professional public and political consent, Srpska National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandić said today at the public debate on the Draft Constitution of the Republic in Banja Luka.

Stevandić says the students and organisations of the non-governmental sector, as well as associations resulting from the Defensive-Patriotic War, greatly support the adoption of the new Srpska constitution.

He adds that the adoption of the new constitution has the support of other organisations of the non-governmental sector, which believe that Republika Srpska must regulate what modern constitutions regulate, including digital ownership, which could not be discussed 20 years ago and which high representatives did not take into account.

Stevandić told the press in Banja Luka that Srpska preserves its property and the right to make decisions, reminding that the original text of the 1991 Constitution has been significantly changed.

He has pointed out that in view of the frequent attacks on the property, sovereignty and institutions of the Republic, Srpska is best protected by the Constitution, as it was created by the adoption of the Constitution in 1991.

Stevandić says Srpska will be persistent in its defence, as well as that expert discussions will continue in Prijedor, Doboj, Bijeljina and Zvornik.
