TREBINJE, AUGUST 28 /SRNA/ – The situation at the fire sites in Trebinje surrounding is stable, while a major firefighting operation continued this morning in the Golo Brdo area to prevent the fire from spreading toward the city, the Trebinje Territorial Fire and Rescue Unit told SRNA.
In addition to firefighters, members of the Civil Protection Unit of the Hydro Power Plant on the Trebišnjica Basin power company and the Armed Forces of BiH are taking part in the operation, while an Armed Forces of BiH helicopter is also operating in the area.
The facilities of Trebinje's Vodovod water supply utility near the Vrelo Oko water source are not currently under threat. However, the fire is approaching the area, and the situation on the ground will depend on the wind and the further spread of the fire. Firefighters there expect to intervene at the site again today, as they did yesterday.
The fire and rescue unit said that the situation in the area of Bravenika village in Zupci and along the road toward Ubla is also stable and under control, compared with yesterday, when the area was affected by a major surge of flames.
Firefighters from Bileća and Herceg Novi have also been assisting in extinguishing the fires near Trebinje since yesterday afternoon.
