BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 19 /SRNA/ – President Milorad Dodik told SRNA that Republika Srpska is on the right path to victory, and that yesterday’s events in the National Assembly should be understood as part of Republika Srpska’s broader efforts to reposition its stance.
"Our politics remain the same. BiH is unsustainable. The only way to maintain lasting peace and stability here, something we care about, is for BiH to be organised according to the will of its constituent peoples," Dodik emphasized.
According to him, Republika Srpska is already defined, it only lacks independent status.
"As for the other entity, that’s their own concern. I don’t care about it, and we Serbs shouldn’t care at all. The political narrative we are hearing these days about some so-called victory is pathetic, just like the country that wins through a foreigner imposing decisions on it as if they were laws," said Dodik.
He reiterated that such a BiH has no chance of success.
"What lies ahead is a far more important issue - the question of BiH’s status. In that regard, Republika Srpska must gather new strength. I believe we are doing just that right now," Dodik stated.
He emphasized that an unconstitutional BiH is unacceptable to Republika Srpska.
"Today’s BiH is distorted and unconstitutional. All of that must be suspended in order to even begin discussing any sort of sustainable agreement," he said.
Dodik also declared that the Dayton Peace Agreement is dead and has been dismantled by those who claimed to be defending it, while in reality they were passing judgments against those in Republika Srpska who truly upheld the letter of the Dayton.
"We see no reason for today’s U.S. administration to support the Dayton Peace Agreement, as it was bad product of the Clinton and other administrations, who have been trying to fix an unfixable version of that agreement for 30 years," Dodik stressed.
In the end, he added, they had to modify it so much that it no longer exists.
"If it did, there would be no Armed Forces of BiH, no indirect taxation, SIPA, Prosecutor’s Office and Court of BiH, no intelligence agency, and much more. All of that was imposed outside of the Dayton Peace Agreement. That’s why Republika Srpska has no reason to keep supporting it. We shouldn’t be naive by defending something that is indefensible," stressed Dodik.
Dodik stressed that Republika Srpska was not given to the Serb people by the Dayton Peace Agreement, Republika Srpska was created by the efforts of the Serb people themselves.
"We defended Republika Srpska throughout this period of relative peace, fighting to preserve peace and stability. At a time when Serbs and Republika Srpska were demonized to the point that it was acceptable to do anything bad to them, we adapted and endured through those extraordinary times. Today, the constellation of relations is something entirely different," Dodik said.
