SRPSKA BEARER OF SOVEREIGNTY IN BiH, JOINT INSTITUTIONS CANNOT CREATE POLICIES

EAST SARAJEVO, MAY 15 /SRNA/ - Legal expert Ognjen Tadić has stated that the support for the Serb Member and Chairperson of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović's veto demonstrated that Republika Srpska is the bearer of sovereignty within BiH, and that the joint institutions of BiH cannot create policies, but only implement the policies of the two entities and three constituent peoples to the extent to which they are harmonized.

"It has also been proven that Republika Srpska, as a political community, is independent and capable of overcoming official Sarajevo’s attempts to influence political processes in Srpska through the pressure exerted on part of the opposition," Tadić told SRNA.

He believes that, following the vote, the greatest weight was lifted from the shoulders of opposition voters of SDS and PDP, who feared that the deputies they voted for would side with political Sarajevo during the veto vote.

The National Assembly of Republika Srpska last night adopted a decision confirming the statement by the Serb BiH Presidency Member Željka Cvijanović that the disputed conclusion adopted by the BiH Presidency on May 12 without consensus is highly damaging to the vital interests of Republika Srpska.
