DEATH TOLL RISES TO 2,295

CARACAS, JULY 1 /SRNA-Reuters/ - The death toll from two earthquakes that struck Venezuela last week has risen to 2,295, Parliament Speaker Jorge Rodríguez said.

In an address on state television, he said thousands of people were injured and left homeless.

The two earthquakes, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, hit Venezuela on June 24 within a 40-second interval.
