BANJA LUKA, JANUARY 31 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Minister of Justice Goran Selak told SRNA that seizing the property belonging to the Serbian Orthodox Church /SOC/ in the FBiH, as well as attacks on everything Orthodox, indicate that this is an organised hostile activity aimed at rewriting history and erasing the identity of the Serb people in that area, stressing that the Republika Srpska Government will not allow this.

"We do not want anything that belongs to others, but we will always strive to preserve and institutionally protect what is ours. Especially because without Orthodox holy sites, such as Serb cemeteries, chapels, and SOC churches, there can be neither national nor popular unity," Selak said.

He emphasized that SOC churches, chapels, Serb cemeteries, and cultural-historical monuments have been and remain the foundation on which the spiritual identity of the Serbs has been continuously and steadfastly built and preserved.

According to him, Serbs must safeguard and nurture the fundamental values of their identity, namely spiritual centres, monuments, the Serbian language, and tradition.

"Thanks to the spiritual identity on which the identity of Orthodox Serbs was steadily built, the Orthodox Serb people was preserved, contributing to the survival of Serb culture and statehood," Selak concluded.
