PALE, OCTOBER 26 /SRNA/ - The two-day educational and cultural film program "Days of Russian Film for Children - Fairy Tales of Childhood" opened in Pale today, featuring Russian animated films for the youngest audiences.
Cultural Attache of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in BiH Mikhail Krapiva said this is a significant event, now being held for the fourth year in a row, noting that Russian animated films are very popular among children in Republika Srpska.
"This is an excellent opportunity for intercultural exchange between our fraternal peoples, as children have the chance to watch the latest Russian animated films translated into Serbian," Krapiva told reporters.
He said the "Fairy Tales of Childhood" event is an opportunity for the youngest to learn about Russian culture and animation through film, as well as a way to further strengthen cultural ties between Republika Srpska and the Russian Federation.
Krapiva thanked the Film Archive of Republika Srpska for the opportunity to organize the screenings, and the Russian organization Roskino for providing the films.
He hopes that cooperation with the Film Archive, primary schools, and preschool and other interested institutions will continue.
Director of the Film Archive of Republika Srpska Bojan Čvoro said the program consists of a selection of Russian animated and feature films suited to the age of lower primary school pupils and kindergarten children.
"This event is one of the most important when it comes to the work of the Film Archive and cooperation with the Russian Embassy in the field of culture, especially because three primary schools from Pale are taking part. The event was designed with the aim of enriching the educational process for preschool and school-age children through the art of film," Čvoro said.
He said tomorrow's program includes short animated films suited to preschool children and upper primary school pupils.
Principal of the Mokro Primary School Dragana Lučić said she is pleased that the school is taking part in an important event aimed at introducing children to Russian culture and tradition.
She said that fairy tales are what bring diversity closer to children, encourage imagination, and develop respect and understanding of differences between people.
The event, organized by the Film Archive of Republika Srpska and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in BiH, aims to bring Russian cinema closer to children and strengthen cultural ties between the Russian and Serbian peoples.
The Russian film screenings are being held at the Pale Cultural Center.
