BANJA LUKA, MAY 21 /SRNA/ – The President of Republika Srpska emphasized that in every generation there comes a moment when the people must choose - not between war and peace, but between truth and complacency - and pointed out that this is that moment.
"We are not here to destroy what Dayton has built. Our task is to protect it from those who have forgotten what Dayton is. We are not here to dismantle BiH. We are here to remind the world what it truly is: a complex sovereign country, composed of two entities and three peoples. This country cannot be governed by decrees; it can only be maintained by internal agreement," the President of Republika Srpska stressed in his address to the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, which SRNA is transmitting in full:
"From this place, we call for cooperation based on equality, parity, consensus, and constitutional order. From this place, I also send a message — not only to the citizens of Republika Srpska, but to every Bosniak, every Croat, every Serb, every citizen of this country: We are not asking for anything that is not ours. We only ask that what is ours not be taken away from us!
We are ready to build a future in which all peoples will progress. Where all resources, including critical minerals, will be used for the development of all, not for the enrichment of individuals. Where no one will be silenced, and no one will be prosecuted for defending the agreement we all signed.
Let us listen to one another. Let us talk — openly, without foreign coercion. And let us start immediately.
Let us begin a structured and good-faith dialogue among all signatories of the Dayton Agreement with the aim to return to the original text, intent, and structure of the Dayton Peace Accords. Any potential amendments must be considered and agreed upon exclusively through constitutional mechanisms prescribed by Dayton.
This is not a call to dismantle BiH. This is a call to return to constitutional foundations. The only sure refuge for everyone in BiH is the Dayton Agreement. To be amended only to the extent that there is consensus.
Remember when foreigners stopped coming here and what message that sent to us.
This is a call to acknowledge that peace cannot be maintained through pressure, punishment, or decrees, but only through mutual respect and agreement."
