BANJA LUKA, APRIL 8 /SRNA/ - The President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of April 8, World Roma Day, wishing that raising the awareness of the challenges that Roma, as a numerous ethnic minority group, face all over the world.
"World Roma Day is an opportunity to honor and recognize the rich cultural heritage and contribution of the Roma, who are an important part of society in Srpska and despite the difficult history, marked by migration, suffering and discrimination, the Roma have managed to preserve their own language, tradition, music and colorful cultural identity," the congratulatory message states.
Dodik pointed out that Republika Srpska recognizes and appreciates the contribution of all national minorities, their cultural wealth and diversity, and as a society will continue to provide all of them with equal access to education, employment and other spheres of society, the Cabinet of the President of the Republic announced.
World Roma Day is marked on April 8 as a reminder of the first World Roma Congress held in London on this date in 1971, when decisions were made on the official anthem, flag and official Roma language.
