PROPOSED LAW ON BiH COURT UNACCEPTABLE

BANJA LUKA, MAY 27 /SRNA/ - The Government of Republika Srpska, at today’s telephone session, adopted a conclusion rejecting the proposed Law on the Court of BiH, which is scheduled to be on the agenda of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH at the request of MP Predrag Kojović, with a motion for urgent procedure.

The Ministry of Justice of Republika Srpska, after conducting an analysis, considers that the concept of the proposed law is potentially harmful to Republika Srpska and its competencies, according to a statement from the Government’s Public Relations Bureau.

As a result, the ministry proposed that the Government of Republika Srpska adopt a conclusion rejecting the law.

The Government has tasked the Ministry of Justice with providing information and an official opinion on the proposed law, which was submitted into parliamentary procedure in the House of Representatives by an authorized proposer, in order to respond as efficiently as possible to any potential harmful consequences for Republika Srpska’s institutions and jurisdiction.

The draft Law on the Court of BiH, with a request for urgent procedure, was submitted by Predrag Kojović of the Our Party. Among other provisions, it proposes the establishment of an appellate division of the BiH Court, which would be headquartered in the municipality of Pale, in the city of East Sarajevo. The House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly is scheduled to hold a session tomorrow.
