BANJA LUKA, DECEMBER 6 /SRNA/ – The Dayton Peace Agreement has remained the foundation of the constitutional and legal order of BiH, participants of the roundtable in Paris titled “30 Years After the Dayton: Peace, Challenges, and Perspectives”, organised by the Republika Srpska Representative Office in France, emphasised.
It was also highlighted that this peace accord is one of the key documents of the European post–Cold War peace architecture, the National Assembly stated.
Dragan Dakić, advisor to Republika Srpska National Assembly speaker, who participated as a panelist, pointed out the importance of preserving the Dayton-based structure of BiH.
“I believe that it is our duty, through academic dialogue, to underline the importance of preserving the Dayton-based structure of BiH, with Republika Srpska in its contractual capacity, and to contribute to its proper understanding in the light of contemporary challenges,” said Dakić, who is an international law advisor.
The scientific - professional conference gathered numerous academic experts, diplomats, and researchers, who discussed the achievements of the peace agreement to date, its modern challenges, and prospects for further preserving stability in the region.
The event addressed topics related to institutional development, relations between the entities, the position of consociational democracy, and the impact of contemporary security challenges on the stability of the agreement.
Special attention was given to issues of the legal sustainability of the peace framework, as well as the need for its consistent respect in view of new geopolitical circumstances.
