THE HAGUE, AUGUST 29 /SRNA/ — The Netherlands will not launch a criminal investigation into the death of former Commander of the Army of Republika Srpska General Ratko Mladić, the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague said.
"The competent Dutch authorities have officially informed the Mechanism that they will not open a criminal investigation into Mr. Mladić's death and that they will not conduct an autopsy," the court told RIA Novosti.
The Hague Mechanism said it was conducting its own investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mladić's death.
Mechanism President Graciela Gatti Santana assigned the proceedings to Judge Iain Bonomy.
General Mladić died on Thursday, August 27, at the detention hospital in The Hague.
