EAST SARAJEVO, AUGUST 12 /SRNA/ - The National Assembly of Republika Srpska is competent for issues related to the Dayton Peace Agreement and in that sense can reject anyone's decisions that are anti-Dayton, which includes the actions of Christian Schmidt, as well as other decisions made on the basis of his anti-Dayton orders, lawyer Ognjen Tadić told SRNA.
Speaking about the announced referendum, which should be held after the verdict of the extra-constitutional Court of BiH, Tadić said that along with the decision on the referendum, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska will also make a decision on how one or more questions should be formulated in connection with which citizens' statements are requested, before the Assembly makes any of the decisions within its jurisdiction.
"The strength and importance of the parliamentary decision in this case should be checked in a referendum, because that would put an end to the question of whether anyone from Republika Srpska can ever accept Schmidt's anti-Dayton activities in BiH," Tadić stressed.
According to him, when this topic is put into such a reasonable and legitimate context, then it is completely clear that it is of vital importance not only for Republika Srpska, but also for BiH.
The President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik announced the holding of the referendum after the Central Election Commission of BiH made a decision on August 6 to terminate the mandate of the President of Republika Srpska, who is elected in the general elections in 2022. It should be held based on the decision of the National Assembly of Srpska.
