MIODANIĆ: JUSTICE WILL FIND THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR ABUSES AGAINST SERBS

DERVENTA, JULY 20 /SRNA/ - Borislav Miodanić from Derventa expects that, following his testimony before American investigators-prosecutors, justice will reach the perpetrators of crimes committed against Serbs in Derventa in 1992.

Miodanić, who was a detainee at the Rabić camp near Derventa during the past war, told reporters that American investigators had shown interest in the camp for Serbs.

"I was in the Polje camp, then returned to the JNA Hall, and afterwards to the Rabić camp, then again to the Polje camp in Silos, followed by Žeravac near Brod and the former warehouse of the Belgrade department store," Miodanić told reporters in Derventa today.

He said that American investigators specifically asked him about events at the Rabić camp, and that they were individually interested in the perpetrators of war crimes and the 103rd HVO Brigade, which was stationed in Derventa at that time.

"The most horrific memories from the camp are the severe injuries to my head, chest and stomach, and seven broken ribs," Miodanić remembered through tears, describing the abuse inflicted on Serbs.

Miodanić concluded that it hurts him that he has been waiting for justice for Serb war victims in Derventa for more than 30 years, but that he remains convinced justice can be achieved.

Five American investigators-prosecutors arrived in Derventa to take statements from eight camp survivors about the horrors they endured in the notorious camp for Serbs at the Rabić military warehouse in 1992.

During the past Defense-Patriotic War in Derventa, before the Army of Republika Srpska had even been formed, Croatian and Muslim forces attacked the local Serb population.

Camps for Serbs were established, with the most notorious ones being located at the Army Hall and the Rabić site.

The Rabić camp, established in April 1992, held 120 Serb detainees, while several hundred Serb civilians passed through camps in Derventa in total.
