BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 29 /SRNA/ - The SNSD's decision to take part in the early elections is logical because this party has the responsibility to continue leading the institutional policy of Republika Srpska, Bojan Šolaja from the Center for International and Security Studies told SRNA.
He assessed that the victory of some minority candidate would bring Republika Srpska into an institutional crisis, emphasizing that it would not be logical for the position of the President of Republika Srpska to be easily handed over to some minority candidate.
"That minority candidate would be underqualified in the political sense, and on the other hand, any potential disagreement between that individual and someone else from the legislative or executive branch would lead to a significant institutional crisis," Šolaja explained.
He added that this would have a very negative impact on Republika Srpska, as it would be skillfully exploited by those who brought about this situation.
He stated that the SNSD’s decision is a continuation of the struggle that Republika Srpska is waging against individuals who are exerting pressure on it, and that this is a responsible political move given the circumstances.
"The goal was not to go into these elections, but those who were the first to confirm their participation and announce the name of their candidate gave a certain legitimacy to the process," Šolaja said.
At a session held today in Banja Luka, the SNSD Main Board unanimously decided that the party will run in the upcoming early elections for the president of Republika Srpska.
"A strategic decision was made, demonstrating that the interests of Republika Srpska are more important than any party or individual," said party president Milorad Dodik during the Main Board session.
