BANJA LUKA, JANUARY 18 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska is taking responsible steps to preserve its institutional stability and its right to independently make key decisions, SNSD spokesperson Radovan Kovačević has said today.

"It is important that people in Republika Srpska understand that there was a serious plan to attack Srpska, devised by former U.S. Ambassador Michael Murphy, carried out together with him, by Christian Schmidt, official Sarajevo, and the opposition from Republika Srpska as a well-coordinated coalition with only one goal - to overthrow the Srpska institutions," Kovačević pointed out.

He stated that after Murphy’s departure and the defeat of the administration of former U.S. President Joseph Biden, which no longer has any influence on politics, Schmidt kept implementing that plan, which is now in its final stage.

"However, today we will put an end to this and absolutely successfully resist that plan," Kovačević said.

He noted that the first step of that attack was an attack on Milorad Dodik, who chose Republika Srpska over the will of an unappointed foreigner and was therefore subjected to a disgraceful judicial prosecution, disgracefully convicted, and ultimately stripped of presidential office by the Central Election Commission of BiH – a term he had received from the Serb people and Srpska in free and democratic elections.

"The second step of that attack was their hope that we from the SNSD, from the ruling coalition, would not participate at all in the illegal snap pesidential elections in Srpska, so that the opposition would run alone, usurp the position of the president of the Republic, and then dissolve the Republika Srpska National Assembly," Kovačević told RTRS.

In the end, Kovačević said, this would have led to a decision by the anti-Serb Constitutional Court of BiH declaring that the Republika Srpska Government lacks legitimacy.

He has emphasized that this represents an attack on Republika Srpska and the Serb constituent people, aimed at stripping them of the right to elect their own representatives and allowing Schmidt to impose opposition representatives.

"We are opposing and resisting all of this by clearly confirming on February 8 the already achieved victory of Siniša Karan, and by re-electing Savo Minić as Prime Minister of Republika Srpska," Kovačević said.

Speaking about the new Srpska Government, whose composition Minić presented yesterday, Kovačević says these are people who will be able to best respond to the tasks that need to be carried out in the coming period.

"We will further stabilize Republika Srpska; a year lies ahead that will be successful for Srpska. We live in an environment where our closest neighbours want us to disappear. We wish them all the best, and let them know that Srpska is a permanent category, which will become an even better place to live," Kovačević said.
