KOVAČEVIĆ: IT IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR SRPSKA!

BANJA LUKA, JULY 7 /SRNA/ – Serb deputy in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Radovan Kovačević stated that Republika Srpska is the foundation of the life of Serbs in this region and that it is always worth fighting for. He pointed out that the thread of the Serbs' struggle for freedom, shown a century and a half ago during the Herzegovinian Uprising, continues to this day.

Kovačević emphasized that faith in Republika Srpska, as the bearer of Serb life, must not be lost.

"We fight for Republika Srpska by doing our jobs in the best possible way," Kovačević said.

Speaking about the Herzegovinian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire - known as the Nevesinje Uprising, Kovačević told RTRS that marking the 150th anniversary of this historic event is very significant for the entire Serb people, which was properly recognised by the joint event organised by Republika Srpska and Serbia.

He noted that the key message from the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, during yesterday's commemoration of this anniversary in Nevesinje, is that Serbs' struggle for freedom is still underway.

"We have the passion to fight for our freedom. The thread of that struggle continues to this day. We have the right to be united and to mark our shared struggle," Kovačević said.
