KOKANOVIĆ SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS IN PRISON FOR MURDERING POLICE INSPECTOR

The District Court Bijeljina has sentenced Nikola Kokanović to 20 years in prison for murdering police inspector Nenad Marković. Officers of the Bijeljina Police Administration were also gathered in front of the courthouse this morning, awaiting the judgment.

BIJELJINA, JULY 7 /SRNA/ - The District Court Bijeljina has sentenced Nikola Kokanović to 20 years in prison for murdering police inspector Nenad Marković.

This is a first-instance judgment.

Kokanović will remain in custody until he is sent to serve his prison sentence.

The pronouncement of the judgment at the District Court was attended by members of the victim's and the convict's families, as well as members of the Bijeljina Police Department and the Ministry of Interior of Republic of Srpska.

Officers of the Bijeljina Police Administration were also gathered in front of the courthouse this morning, awaiting the judgment.

Police inspector Nenad Marković was killed during the night between October 1 and 2, 2023, outside the club Jill in the Bijeljina down town.

According to the indictment, Kokanović fired two shots at the inspector's chest from close range that fatal night, then fled the scene but was quickly located and arrested.
