BANJA LUKA, JUNE 9 /SRNA/ - SNSD member of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Milorad Kojić, stated that MPs from his party will not support any expansion of the jurisdictions of the extra-constitutional Court of BiH or the establishment of an appellate division, emphasizing that experts also agree that the bill must not be supported.
“The SNSD, together with our coalition partners in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, will oppose these legislative proposals. We call on all other MPs from Republika Srpska to support the position of the professional community and, in this particular case, set politics aside,” Kojić told reporters in Banja Luka following the conference titled “The Law on the Court of BiH: Challenges of Institutional Imposition and Defense of the Constitutional Order of Republika Srpska.”
According to him, it is important that university professors pointed out this type of anomaly and were prepared to express their clear and professional position on the expansion of the jurisdictions of the extra-constitutional Court of BiH.
Kojić believes that expanding the Court’s jurisdictions and granting it broad powers through vague formulations, as found in the bills submitted by Predrag Kojović of Our Party in the House of Representatives, Marina Pendeš of the HDZ BiH in the House of Peoples, and the bill from the Ministry of Justice in the Council of Ministers, are in no way compatible with a sound legal order.
"They are not good because they allow for easy or one-sided interpretation by those who wish to abuse such a position; in this case, the Court of BiH would be the specific interpreter," Kojić emphasized.
The conference titled "Law on the Court of BiH: Challenges of Institutional Imposition and the Defense of the Constitutional Order of Republika Srpska" was held in Banja Luka. It was organized by the Ministry of Justice of Republika Srpska, with the attendance of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and Prime Minister Radovan Višković.
The conference was also attended by Republika Srpska’s Minister of Justice Miloš Bukejlović, as well as representatives of Republika Srpska in the joint institutions.
