BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 17 /SRNA/ – The new President of Republika Srpska Siniša Karan took the solemn oath today before the National Assembly.
At the 33rd special session of the Republika Srpska Parliament, the anthem of Republika Srpska "Moja Republika" /My Republic/ was performed prior to the oath-taking ceremony.
Republika Srpska National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandić stated that the decision on Karan’s election as President of Republika Srpska was published today in the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska.
He said that as of today, the decision of the National Assembly appointing Ana Trišić Babić as Acting President of Republika Srpska is no longer valid.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Serb BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović the President of the Constitutional Court of Republika Srpska Džerard Selman, SNSD Leader Milorad Dodik, ministers in the Republika Srpska Government, as well as members of parliament.
On February 13, the CEC BiH confirmed that Karan, the SNSD candidate, was elected president of Republika Srpska.
At an urgent correspondence session, the CEC adopted a decision confirming and publishing the results of the snap presidential elections in Republika Srpska, according to which Karan's victory as the SNSD candidate was confirmed.
