BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 18 /SRNA/ – Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, stated at a special session of the National Assembly that one of the most important legal - political issues is before the deputies today, which is the matter of the head of state.
"I would highlight elements that leave no room for different opinion – neither for the ruling coalition nor the opposition. The unfortunate Schmidt is so inexplicable in both theory and practice that a case like his hasn’t occurred since the time of absolute monarchies," Karan said during the special session of the National Assembly on appointing an acting president of Republika Srpska.
Karan emphasized that "for 30 years, they have been attacking the competences of Republika Srpska, but now, for the first time, they have attacked an institution of state power."
"They did this because they wanted us to have non-sovereign government. The president coordinates the other branches of government. Without a president, there is no assembly or government," Karan stated.
He stressed that it is the National Assembly’s duty is to preserve the constitutional order, full legitimacy, and continuity of state authority.
"All of this stems from illegality. This session is strengthening the statehood of Republika Srpska and resisting all those who have Schmidt-like intentions," Karan concluded.
