KARAN: RETURNEES’ SECURITY NOT THREATENED

BANJA LUKA, MARCH 26 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Interior Minister, Siniša Karan, says the returnees’ safety is not threatened in Srpska and is satisfactory.

Karan has pointed out that the incidents involving the returnee population do not have elements of organisation, but are individual cases in which the self-interest is the most common motive, not inter-ethnic intolerance.

"According to the reported cases, the Republika Srpska Interior Minister members immediately started implementing measures, so the perpetrators were identified in all cases," Karan said during the debate before the National Assembly on the 2024 work performance report by the Republika Srpska Interior Minister.

Karan points out that the competent organisational units of the Republika Srpska MoI remain committed to prevention and achieving full property security of residents.

When it comes to religious, ethical and nationally motivated attacks, Karan states there were 72 attacks on Bosniaks, six on Croats, 73 on Serbs, and six on others in the past five years.

He has warned that this year a large number of artificially induced lies were recorded, with the aim of causing fear and insecurity among the returnee population in Republika Srpska.

Karan also mentioned that Bosniaks, Croats and other peoples are constantly being called on to join the police.

"We are hereby appealing to them to apply to our High School of Internal Affairs and the Police Academy. Our competitions are constantly advertised," Karan noted.
