BANJA LUKA, MAY 11 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan says that the three constituent peoples will not have a basis for cooperation if Christian Schmidt’s illegitimate decisions remain in force, as they have undermined the constitutional and legal order in BiH.
Karan says that Schmidt’s decisions, as well as those of certain BiH institutions, are aimed at undermining the Dayton Peace Agreement.
“They have created the current unprecedented constitutional and political crisis, especially through the attack on the legitimately elected President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the attempt to annul the electoral will of the Republika Srpska citizens. However, they have not succeeded in this, and today Republika Srpska and its institutions are stable, with strong support in the Republika Srpska National Assembly, an efficient government, and all institutions,” Karan told the press in Banja Luka.
Karan stressed that it is necessary to close the OHR and, above all, to review all consequences of imposed decisions, especially those of Schmidt.
“Outstanding issues must be resolved exclusively through dialogue between legitimate representatives of the constituent peoples and entities. If Schmidt’s illegitimate decisions remain in force and if certain institutions act under these unconstitutional decisions, then it is difficult to imagine that the three constituent peoples can have a basis for cooperation,” Karan emphasized.
He also expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation, as a guarantor of the Dayton Accords, for its principled and consistent stance on respecting the law and the letter of the agreement and its obligations.
Karan noted that the recent visit of Republika Srpska leadership to Moscow is proof of strategic friendship and historically close relations.
“This is also a clear indicator that Republika Srpska enjoys respect, recognition, and trust in the international arena. Mutual readiness for further strengthening of political and economic cooperation was confirmed, with clear preservation of the rights and position of Republika Srpska in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement,” Karan said.
He added that the visit to Moscow demonstrates that Republika Srpska conducts a responsible and principled policy based on protecting its interests, strengthening international partnerships, and preserving political and institutional stability.
