PALE, JUNE 15 /SRNA/ - Dragan Kalinić, a member of the Republika Srpska Creators Association, says that by the end of the month “it will become clear where BiH is headed and which direction Republika Srpska will take,” as well as “whether it can remain whole out of three parts,” since anything else, he says, would mean the end of the Dayton-based BiH.
Kalinić says that, in case of a possible negative decision by the Appellate Panel, the domestic and international public might learn the full truth through a nationwide referendum on why “we will not give up Srpska, its institutions, its property, and all that represents the key achievements of the Serb people’s years - long struggle.”
“Such people’s plebiscitary response will be difficult to ignore,” Kalinić told SRNA.
He recalled that he once compared BiH to a three-legged stool, where if any leg - Serb, Croat, or Bosniak’s - is removed, the country cannot remain standing.
In that context, he emphasized that regardless of the decision of the Appellate Panel of the unconstitutional Court of BiH, Republika Srpska knows its short- and long-term goals.
“And just like in the early 1990s, when we created a free and democratic Srpska and proved that we are not some rebellious Serb tribe, today we are again ready to take serious state-level steps to preserve the land for which tens of thousands of the best among us gave their lives,” said the former National Assembly speaker.
In that regard, he added, the issue of a new Constitution is unavoidable, especially regarding the protection and defence of property.
“This is not a separatist constitution, but a restoration of the original principles and jurisdictions granted to us by the Dayton Peace Agreement,” Kalinić noted.
He emphasizes that the decision of the Appellate Panel cannot destroy Srpska’s determination to defend its democratic institutions.
“The true background of the political judgment and the prosecution of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, as well as the prosecution of the National Assembly speaker and the prime minister, lies in the malicious intent to challenge and eventually dismantle these institutions by decapitating the leadership of Srpska. This would, in effect, bring into question the very existence of Republika Srpska,” Kalinić warned.
According to him, this is not only a trial against individuals but a judgment against the constitutional order of both Republika Srpska and BiH - with President Dodik as the personification of that order, elected by the clear majority will of Srpska’s citizens.
