JEWISH NEW YEAR CELEBRATED

DOBOJ, SEPTEMBER 11 /SRNA/ - Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year 5787, was celebrated at the Jewish Community of Doboj this evening.

President of the Jewish Community of Doboj Danijel Atijas told reporters that Rosh Hashanah is celebrated by reflecting on sins that have been committed and through repentance, adding that anyone who has done something sinful should also apologize.

He said that the celebration is accompanied by a traditional meal featuring a variety of foods, each of which has its own symbolic significance for Jews.

Secretary of the Jewish Community of Doboj Dario Atijas announced the continuation of ongoing projects, highlighting the renovation of the Jewish Cultural Centre building with its synagogue.

The Jewish New Year is calculated according to the Torah from the creation of the world. It is observed over two days in synagogues through prayers of repentance.
