ZVORNIK, NOVEMBER 6 /SRNA/ - Today marks 34 years since the death of 126 members of the Republika Srpska Army who were brutally killed on November 6, 1992 by members of the so-called Army of BiH, noting that this crime has not and will not be forgotten even though the criminals have not been prosecuted.
Assistant Minister of Labour, War Veterans and Disabled Persons Protection of Republika Srpska Mladen Radić pointed out that one cannot talk about Glođansko Brdo without mentioning the findings and testimonies that Serb soldiers and civilians were tortured in the most brutal way possible, nailed to trees and finally killed.
"We are standing on the elevation of Glođansko Brdo, where silence speaks louder than any spoken word," Radić told the press.
Head of the Republic Organisation of Families of Captured, Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians, Isidora Graorac, pointed out that the crime on Glođansko Brdo is one of the most horrific, not only related to Zvornik, but also to Republika Srpska and BiH.
"Our soldiers were not killed by bullets here, but were tortured in the most monstrous ways, and that is what makes it so difficult, not only for family members, but also for everyone who represents those families and the Serb people," said Graorac.
Graorac emphasized that, as far as responsibility for this crime is concerned, it is not news that no one was held accountable, but she emphasized that the crime will not and must not be forgotten.
The mayor of Zvornik, Bojan Ivanović, said that one of the most heinous crimes in this area was committed on Glođansko Brdo.
"Even after 34 years since this crime, nothing has moved forward in the investigations, no one has been held accountable for the murders of Serb soldiers and civilians after they were captured," Ivanović said.
Ivanović emphasized that there is great disappointment in the judiciary of BiH for not solving cases of murders of Serb soldiers, even though organizations stamming from the Defensive-Patriotic War and others constantly stress the necessity of elucidating the crime.
A memorial service was held for the killed, and wreaths and flowers were placed at the memorial by the families of the fallen soldiers, representatives of the Republika Srpska War Veterans Organisation, the Ministry of Labour, Wat Veterans and Disabled Persons Protection, the Republican Organisation of Families of Captured, Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians.
Also, wreaths and flowers were laid by members of the Third Infantry /Republika Srpska/ Regiment, the city of Zvornik and the municipalities of Milići, Šekovići, Vlasenica and Srebrenica, the Zvornik Police Administration, and organizations stemming from the Defensive-Patriotic War.
