JASENOVAC MUST NOT BE SUBJECT OF INTENTIONAL FALSIFICATION OF HISTORY

BANJA LUKA, APRIL 23 /SRNA/ - The President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik has spoken today with Holocaust research expert Gideon Greif and pointed out that the Jasenovac concentration camp must not be the subject of deliberate distortion and denial of history.

Dodik said that it is the obligation of the Serbian and Jewish people to talk about Jasenovac, remind and point out historical facts.

He stated that he met Greif, who is also the president of the Independent International Commission for Researching the Suffering of All Peoples in the Srebrenica Region in the Period 1992-1995. year, about the upcoming commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the breakthrough of the last group of Jasenovac camp inmates.

"Greif confirmed his presence at the central event and honoring the innocent victims in Donja Gradina," Dodik posted on "X".

The Government of Republika Srpska has declared April 27 as the Day of Mourning to commemorate the victims of the Ustasha genocide against Serbs, Jews and Roma in the Independent State of Croatia from 1941 to 1945.

The inmates of the infamous Jasenovac camp, 1,073 of them, broke out on April 22, 1945. 169 inmates survived the last days of the concentration camp system in Jasenovac.

According to the data of the Donja Gradina Memorial Area, 700,000 victims were killed in the infamous Jasenovac Ustasha camp during the Second World War, including 500,000 Serbs, 40,000 Roma, 33,000 Jews, and 127,000 anti-fascists. 20,000 children died in Jasenovac.

The NDH death camp system included about 80 camps, and Donja Gradina was the largest execution site in the Jasenovac concentration camp system.
