PALE, OCTOBER 22 /SRNA/ - Historian Georgije Vulić has said that Srpsko Sarajevo, now Istočno Sarajevo, and Pale played a significant role in the historical process of the creation of Republika Srpska, and that their importance should be emphasised in the relevant legal acts.
Commenting on announcements regarding the adoption of a new Constitution of Republika Srpska, Vulić told SRNA that Srpsko Sarajevo, now Istočno Sarajevo, and Pale, as one of the constituent parts of the city, played a very significant role in the early years of the creation of Republika Srpska.
Vulić pointed out that the possibility of Pale being declared the seat of government was primarily a matter for politicians and legal experts, while historians examine broader historical processes.
He stressed that the importance of this area to Republika Srpska should be acknowledged in the Constitution or other legal acts.
Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik previously said that the plan was to adopt a new Constitution of Republika Srpska on January 9, which would be modern, respect the constituent status of the peoples, and prevent abuses in the functioning of Republika Srpska.
Among other things, he noted that the new Constitution would specify that Banja Luka is the capital of Republika Srpska, while Pale would be its seat of government.
