PARIS, OCTOBER 22 /SRNA/ - At least three people have been killed and one injured as a result of heavy rain and severe weather in southern France, while thousands of homes are without electricity.
The regional government said the storm had caused an unprecedented rise in water levels.
Citing the relevant authorities, the newspaper La Provence reported that two women, aged 86 and 26, had been found dead in a basement in Lançon-Provence. In addition, a 75-year-old person was killed in the storm in Saint-Mitre-les-Remparts.
The regional government said that around 250 people in Arles and Saint-Martin-de-Crau had been accommodated in evacuation centers.
Significant material damage has been reported, while roads and railway lines have been blocked. Electricity and telephone services have also been disrupted, DPA reported.
The storm system Adam has already caused flooding in northeastern Spain, where at least five people have been killed.
