TREBINJE, AUGUST 28 /SRNA/ – The Central Election Commission /CEC/ of BiH once again shows that it does not act as an independent and professional institution, but as an extended arm of political Sarajevo, foreign centers of power, and the foreigner Christian Schmidt, said Milica Ijačić, a member of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, in a statement to SRNA.
Ijačić pointed out that it is particularly hypocritical that the CEC itself does not respect its own law, which obliges it to call elections within 90 days, while at the same time demanding that Republika Srpska acts according to that same law.
"By adopting the decision to call early elections in Republika Srpska, the CEC is directly interfering in the internal political processes of Srpska and trying to weaken its institutions. It is clear that the goal is, through electoral engineering, rigged procedures, and political pressure, to create an atmosphere of destabilization and insecurity in Srpska. However, they will not succeed. The people of Srpska will respond with one big NO in the referendum," Ijačić stressed.
She pointed out that the decision to hold a referendum in Srpska has already demonstrated the strength of Srpska’s institutions and that Srpska is strong enough to protect its will.
"Attempts to shape the political destiny of our people through Sarajevo and the CEC are doomed to fail in advance. The President of the Republic Milorad Dodik enjoys the trust of the citizens, and no rigged decisions of the CEC can change that. The referendum will prove this to an even greater extent.
Republika Srpska will remain steadfast in defending its rights and will not allow anyone to impose solutions against its will and against the will of the people living in this area," Ijačić said.
