HUMANITY IN THE SKY: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL AIR EVACUATION OF NEWBORN CHILD

BANJA LUKA, MAY 14 /SRNA/ - In the last four days, the air medical transport team of the Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs /MIA/ of Republika Srpska carried out as many as four complex evacuations of seriously ill patients, demonstrating the most noble thing that a man can give - his knowledge in the service of life, but today's mission was particularly emotional, Boban Kusturić, the head of the Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, told SRNA.

Kusturić pointed out that the helicopter of the Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, in cooperation with the doctors of the University Clinical Center /UCC/ of Republika of Srpska from Banja Luka, flew from Banja Luka to Sarajevo in the early hours, and then from Sarajevo to Belgrade with the most sensitive passenger among all - a newly born baby only 20 days old.

According to him, the diagnose was a congenital heart defect.

"The baby was transported from the Sarajevo Koševo Clinical Center by land to the Sarajevo Airport, and then by air to the final destination - Belgrade, where this little patient will be hospitalized and undergo further medical procedures in the fight for life," explained Kusturić, adding that every moment of this mission carried a special emotional weight.

In the cabin of the aircraft, he says, it is quieter than usual, and the look between the team members says more than a thousand words.

"Nonetheless, professionalism must not falter. The experience and composure of this team were key to this battle of life getting a new chance. The members of the air medical team once again, in the first place, showed exceptional professionalism, but also what makes them special - humanity, solidarity and a deep understanding of the moment.

This is certainly not the first time that they have responded to such calls from the Federation of BiH. Their work is quiet, but invaluable. They are not looking for recognition. It is enough for them to know that they did what was necessary," Kusturić pointed out.

Thanks to the exceptional coordination of all services - from the medical staff in Banja Luka, to the helicopter crew and the medical team that followed the transport, Kusturić emphasized, the life of one child now has new hope.

"These kinds of missions remind us how important it is to have a developed and functional air medical transport system, especially in emergency and difficult cases where time is a decisive factor. In a time when numbers and statistics are often in the foreground, stories like this remind us that the humanity we can express through our skills is the greatest blessing," concluded Kusturić.
