BUDAPEST, September 4 /SRNA/ - Hungarian Minister of Culture and Innovation Balázs Hankó said that the manifestation "Serbian Days - Month of Serbian Culture in Hungary", opened this evening at the Ethnographic Museum in Budapest, represents an important milestone in the increasingly strong cooperation between Hungary, Serbia, and Republika Srpska.
Hankó emphasized that this cooperation shows that relations between the Hungarian and Serbian peoples are shaped not only by their shared past but also by their shared responsibility for the future.
"In order to deepen this friendship, it is necessary that we better and more profoundly understand each other’s cultures. The Hungarian-Serbian joint cultural season will consist of a series of events aimed at highlighting our historical heritage and cultural wealth in a way that is attractive and accessible to the wider public," Hankó said at the opening ceremony.
He noted that the events throughout the manifestation will be based on the shared past, music, folk art, gastronomy, and spiritual and church ties deeply rooted in both nations.
"A new space is opening for cooperation in numerous cultural fields that will deepen cultural ties and encourage economic and tourism cooperation," Hankó added.
He underlined that the Serbian Orthodox Church preserves the identity of Serbs in Hungary through its diocese and churches.
"We will build an even stronger bridge between our peoples, bringing our communities closer together and showing that Hungarian-Serbian cooperation in everyday life is far deeper and more vibrant than it might seem at first glance," Hankó concluded.
