BANJA LUKA, MARCH 12 /SRNA/ - The Organization of Officers of the Republika Srpska Army today wished General Ratko Mladić a happy 84th birthday, emphasizing that he commanded the Republika Srpska Army honorably, with dignity, and with a high level of expertise and professionalism, thereby bringing freedom to the Serbian people.

"Unfortunately, due to the mistakes of others and significantly deteriorated health, you are imprisoned in the dungeon of the Hague Tribunal, which embodies hatred and injustice toward Serbs and the Serbian people, and which shows neither the minimum humanitarian empathy nor professional ethics toward the gravely ill, whose life and death they decide upon," the Organization of Officers of the Republika Srpska Army said.

The statement says that the Organization of Officers of the Republika Srpska Army is extremely pleased that General Mladić will celebrate his 84th birthday today with his wife.

"Dear General and honorary president of the Organization of Officers of the Republika Srpska Army, we wish that you will celebrate your future birthdays in freedom, for which you gave everything you could give, and in better health and overall condition," the statement says.

General Ratko Mladić was born in Božanovići near Kalinovik on March 12, 1942.

He is marking his 84th birthday in detention in The Hague, where he is serving a life sentence based on a final judgment handed down on June 8, 2021.

Mladić was arrested on an ICTY warrant on May 26, 2011, in Lazarevo near Zrenjanin, and five days later, he was flown to The Hague, where he has remained in detention since the verdict was delivered.
