BANJA LUKA, JUNE 11 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska, Denis Šulić, stated after today’s meeting in Banja Luka with the Minister of Trade of the Federation of BiH (FBiH), Amir Hasičević, that the goal of future cooperation is to ensure that all consumers in BiH have equal rights.
Šulić said the meeting was successful and focused on strengthening the good cooperation from the previous period.
"Everything is aimed at ensuring that consumers in both entities have the same rights. In Republika Srpska and the Federation, new consumer protection laws are currently in the process of being adopted. We will work together, and we exchanged experiences regarding what they in the FBiH have planned in their law and what we are planning in our new law," Šulić told reporters in Banja Luka.
He said joint efforts will be made to harmonize these laws.
"We also discussed the possibility of jointly promoting our economy at the 'Expo' fair that will be held in 2027 in Belgrade. This is a major opportunity for businesses from both entities," Šulić emphasized.
He announced that during a return visit, a memorandum will be adopted to further strengthen cooperation between the ministries.
"We are also planning to jointly organize a Balkan Trade Summit later this year, which will aim to gather all key players in the trade sector across the region," Šulić added.
Hasičević said that consumer protection laws must be aligned with all European directives.
"The main goal is for a consumer from Banja Luka and a consumer from Sarajevo to have the same rights, no matter where in BiH they purchase goods," Hasičević said.
He added that the meeting also covered cooperation in developing an electronic platform that would allow all consumers in BiH to have a clear overview of how prices are formed.
The meeting was held at the Administrative Center of the Government of Republika Srpska.
