DOZENS OF BUSES FROM SARAJEVO-ROMANIJA REGION HEAD TO BELGRADE

PALE, SEPTEMBER 7 /SRNA/ – Dozens of buses carrying demobilized veterans, family members of fallen soldiers, and the Sarajevo-Romanija region residents have set off for Belgrade, where they will attend the funeral of General Ratko Mladić, the former commander of the Republika Srpska Army's Main Staff.

Jasna Lazarević-Gavrilović, Chair of the Presidency of the Pale Municipal War Veterans Organisation, told SRNA that two buses had departed from Pale, also carrying a number of people from Istočno Stari Grad and Istočno Sarajevo who wished to attend General Mladić's final farewell.

Lazarević-Gavrilović said the buses set off for Belgrade around midnight, while a large number of people from Republika Srpska will also travel in their privately owned vehicles.

General Ratko Mladić died at the detention hospital in The Hague on August 27, after the Hague Mechanism repeatedly rejected requests for his earloy release for medical treatment in Serbia. He will be buried today at Topčider Cemetery in Belgrade.
