BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 5 /SRNA/ – Domes were placed today on the Serbian-Russian Church in Banja Luka, an impressive structure built in a symbolic Russian architectural style.

The building features five domes and a separate bell tower.

Within the Church, there will be a Serbian-Russian cultural and spiritual center and a library, where the Russian language and rich Russian literature will be studied.

The Church will have three altars – the Transfiguration of Our Lord, Simeon the Myrrh-Streaming, Saint Sava, as well as the Holy Royal Martyrs Romanov.h

The prototype chosen for the Church is the former Church of the Miracle of Archangel Michael, built in 1358 and located in the Kremlin, which was demolished after the October Revolution.

The Serbian-Russian Church is being built in honor of the Russian Imperial Romanov family and represents a symbol of the will of the Serbian people and the fraternal ties with Russians.

The foundations of the Church were consecrated on September 17, 2018, and a few days after the consecration, the construction site was visited by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
