DODIK'S APPEAL WILL BE UPHELD IF LEGAL EXPERTISE EXISTS IN COURT

JAHORINA, OCTOBER 29 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Justice of Republika Srpska Goran Selak has stated today that if there are legal professionals and genuine legal reasoning within the Constitutional Court of BiH, President Milorad Dodik’s appeal against the Court of BiH's judgment will be upheld.

"Everyone I have spoken to, judicial officials and legal experts alike, says that no individual has the right to make decisions in any country," Selak told the press.

He emphasized that in a country where a parliament exists, it alone is constitutionally authorized to enact laws.

"If the law prevails over outside pressures, then it is indisputable that this appeal must be upheld," Selak said, adding that it remains to see what the judges of the Constitutional Court of BiH will decide on Tuesday, November 4.

At an extraordinary session scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, the Constitutional Court of BiH is expected to review President Milorad Dodik's appeal against the Court of BiH's judgment sentencing the president of Republika Srpska to one year in prison and six years of prohibition from political activity for "non-compliance with the decisions of Christian Schmidt".

Dodik was tried for a criminal offense introduced into the Criminal Code of BiH based on a decision by Schmidt.

The appeal against the Court of BiH's judgment was submitted to the Constitutional Court of BiH, as this is a necessary step for the case to be taken before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
