BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 16 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik emphasized that the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin demonstrated courage and the strength of vision, opening the door for the return of dialogue in a world accustomed to dictates and unilateral decisions.
"Today, the world has a reason to believe: the future lies in peace, and peace lies in dialogue," Dodik wrote on X.
Dodik emphasized that Serbs know better than anyone what it means when the law is trampled by force.
"Throughout history, we have been the victims of such an unlawful system. That is why I welcome this meeting as a sign that peace is not an illusion, but a path that can and must be followed," Dodik stressed.
According to Dodik, this is not the end, but a clear beginning: peace does not come from ultimatums and blackmail, but from dialogue among those who can bring and guarantee stability to the entire world.
"International law is not dead, but it must be revived. It cannot be built on verdicts written by foreigners and governors, but on the courage of leaders to place their people and peace above force," Dodik said.
Putin and Trump met yesterday in Anchorage, Alaska, for talks in a “three-on-three” format, which lasted two hours and 45 minutes.
In addition to the presidents, Russia was represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, while the United States was represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steven Witkoff.
