BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 26 /SRNA/ - The President of SNSD Milorad Dodik, stated that he supports the proposal of the Veterans' Organization of Republika Srpska /BORS/ for the Government of Republika Srpska to declare March 1 a day of mourning.
"The killing of a Serbian wedding guest and the beginning of the war are reasons for mourning. It is difficult to understand those who celebrate the start of a war but do not celebrate the establishment of peace. That twisted logic is the best indicator of how twisted a country BiH is," Dodik wrote on the social network "X."
The Veterans' Organization of Republika Srpska /BORS/ stated that March 1 is not a holiday, but rather the date marking the beginning of a tragic conflict, and that the day should be declared a day of mourning in Republika Srpska.
BORS believes this proposal is justified because March 1, 1992, is associated with the start of the war in BiH and the suffering that followed.
In parts of the FBiH with a majority Bosniak population, March 1 is marked as the so-called Independence Day of BiH, as 32 years ago an illegal referendum on independence and secession of BiH from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was held on that date.
Serbs in Republika Srpska remember March 1 for the killing of a Serbian wedding guest in Sarajevo, which was a trigger for the outbreak of war hostilities.
