VIŠEGRAD, JUNE 7 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik emphasized today that the All-Serbian Assembly held a year ago has historic significance, as much has been achieved since it was declared that the Serbian people on both sides of the Drina River are one united nation.
At the event "Encounters on the Drina – Bridges of Serbian Unity" in Andrićgrad, Dodik stated that a year ago it was highlighted that the Serbian people stand behind their two states, Republika Srpska and Serbia, behind Kosovo as an integral part of Serbia, and behind everything from the past that adorned the Serbian people.
"We are Serbs, not some Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, or Kosovan people, but one united Serbian nation that various conquerors have tried to change and push aside," said Dodik.
He pointed out that many want a weak Serbia; this has been heard from Croats and Bosniaks and continues to be heard, and when Republika Srpska was added to that, they persistently spread negative narratives. He also mentioned the color revolution in Serbia and those trying to impose something here by force.
“If those from Sarajevo win, it means that the struggle for Republika Srpska was in vain, but we must know that 34,000 of our people died for this Republic, that it was built with love, and that we live it,” Dodik emphasized.
He stressed that there is no more united and logical goal than for one people to be gathered in one state.
“If that has been allowed for everyone else, then why isn’t it given to the Serbian people? They fear us. We have defended and continue to defend our freedom. We know that we must continue on the path of our Declaration, of our unity,” Dodik emphasized.
This event marks the first anniversary of the All-Serbian Assembly and the signing of the Declaration on the Protection of National and Political Rights and the Shared Future of the Serbian People.
The event is jointly organized by the governments of Republika Srpska and Serbia as a symbol of the ties between the Serbian people on both sides of the Drina River.
