BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 14 /SRNA/ – The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, called on citizens to proudly display Serbian tricolor flags on their homes tomorrow, on the occasion of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.
"This joint holiday has taken root among the people, who embrace it as their own. I call on everyone to contribute to the celebration by displaying the flags of Republika Srpska and Serbia in front of their houses and business premises, and to join all our events marking September 15," Dodik told reporters in Banja Luka.
Dodik emphasized that this is a unique state holiday of Republika Srpska and Serbia, and as such, a forerunner of the unity of the Serbian people.
The Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag is a state holiday celebrated on September 15 in Serbia and Republika Srpska, symbolically established on the day commemorating the breakthrough of the Salonika Front. It has been observed since 2020.
The idea for the joint holiday of Serbia and Srpska was initiated by Serbia’s leaders Aleksandar Vučić and Ana Brnabić, in agreement with the leadership of Republika Srpska, headed by Milorad Dodik.
This year, the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag will be celebrated in Gadžin Han, the hometown of the most famous soldier of the Salonika Front, Dragutin Matić.
